Today marks the 560th day of committing to the Miracle Morning routine. It’s Monday morning and I am confident I can get out of bed as planned with excitement for the day, todays time was 5:30am.
Having the mindset of doing this routine no matter what, allows the day to start with the feeling of being excited for what the day will have to offer.
I'm starting to not be able to imagine the start of the day any other way. Admittedly it’s not always 5:30am but the routine is the same combination Hal Elrod describes in his book.
Every day can feel like something amazing is going to happen, that there's something to celebrate. Some liken this to having every day feel like it's Christmas morning.
I personally not sure if it is the same as Christmas morning , but I can relate to the feeling of being excited and happy for the day ahead and I really enjoy doing the SAVERS routine at the start of my day as this seems to then set up the day, the intentions and feelings I want to maintain or draw in.
A lesson I have learnt from doing this practice and therefore want to share with you is one of Persistence. Taking the time to feel and define a word in my life I like to look up the dictionary definition.
"Persistence- the fact of continuing in an opinion or course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition."
You might find this shared lesson or word a strange one to share after talking about such enjoyment of the process. But it is actually my own experience over the last 560 days that brings me to sharing this.
I recognise that on days it's not been easy and you may find the same too but by following it , I have been given such gifts. (Hence the comparison to Christmas morning) Gifts such as personal growth, better health, experiences , gratitude, confidence, success in business and personal goals and growth.
By being persistent you are CHOOSING not to give up on your goals, you will not lose sight of what you would like to achieve, you are not so rigid you cannot adapt to change , you do not lose your positive outlook on life.
I know now why I choose to be persistent. It allows me to learn and overcome from failure and ultimately succeed.
This may be my own insight but ask yourself why do you choose to be persistent?
Often like others I have the opportunity to catch up with family and friends. Excited about the progress I have been making in my own personal development I start telling them of my experiences recently.
Some of these interactions got me thinking about naysayers. Yes, we have all experienced them, whilst not every interaction was like this there’s always one! Not heard of the phrase naysayer? Well a naysayer is someone who discourages you for reasons they will sometimes take the time to explain. For example ‘’you can't get up that time of day, you will be tired! You'll never be able to do that in this economy, the money’s not there! you shouldn't do that you won't achieve it, come on be realistic! ‘’.
Usually a difficult, tiring interaction or conservation and what gives someone the right to discourage you? or tell you that pursuing your goals and dreams, is a waste of time? Words like ‘your joking right?’’ Or “That’s impossible!”.
So how then do I and you if you come across them, deal with these experiences? My solution is to try and understand where they were coming from. I thought about each persons comments and asked. Do they have a valid viewpoint, that they have clearly thought out or is it an opinion? Are they successful in their life? Are they are speaking from experience that I value, i.e. Are they living the life I want ? or are they speaking from their fears of change and lack of own personal development.
If it’s the later I decided to just disregard that comment, feedback and input. My goals are precious, and I’m not going to engage with anyone who try's to squash my dreams and motivation. Can you do this too?
If someone is going to consciously or unconsciously sabotage your mindset, squash your goals and limit your potential. It’s beneficial to consider if they are someone to actually share them with. Especially in the early days of establishing new foundations. Have the confidence to say thank you and move on. I, nor you need their approval, need to defend our reasons or feel we cannot be ourselves.
Limit the time you spend with these people and surround yourself with ones who improve your life, through encouragement , inspiration and positivity. If your not in a position that you want to eject the naysayer from your life, then protect your dreams, work diligently towards them and don't bring them to the conversation with these particular people.
One day they might just come back to you and ask how you did it!

I get asked a lot by friends and blog followers how I find the time to read as much as I do. Which gives me cause today reflect on how I do achieve this and why I put a value of importance on reading.
It’s not something I have ever found difficult to do and would frequently be referred to as a bookworm for I love most books , on various topics, both fiction and non fiction, and varied length , long or short books. Loving to read makes makes it a priority in my self care and fun routine but I realise and appreciate that sometimes busy lives and demanding priorities can make finding this time challenging. The main way I have found time to make this happen daily is through a minimum of 5 minutes a day in my miracle morning routine. If you haven’t read the book Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod make this your first book to read. It’s life changing and has made a significant difference to my life over the last 2 years. To give you an idea of the impact of including reading for 5 mins a day in a miracle morning routine. In just a week, an extra 35 minutes of reading. As I continue in a month that is 2.5 hours extra and in a year that is 30.4 hours extra. Assuming the average person reads 130 words per minute. That is a minimum of 237250 words! How many books would that cover?
Overviewing why it is important to read and what impact it can have on your life let me share what I found out. It can reduce stress by distracting you for a few moments, reduce negative feelings such as loneliness and anxiety. It allows you to become calm and in the moment. It can increase your knowledge and vocabulary. Increase awareness and bring insights or ideas. It is a perfect tool for improving memory, analytical thinking and problem solving skills, as you follow characters, plot or learn about a new topics. It can spark imagination, entertain you, make you smarter, increase awareness of yourself and the world around you.
I read recently about a new research report, commissioned for Quick Reads, that revealed 'adults who spend just 30 minutes a week reading are 20 per cent more likely to be satisfied with their lives'
Another way of making the time to read is to set yourself goals, allocate time to it and review your goals. For example this year I am participating in a reading challenge and have set myself a goal of 52 books in the year. This is a big number for me, you don’t need to set the same goal , if you didn’t read one book last year , set yourself of a goal of one this year. It’s about progress and enjoyment for your own self development. I’m on Goodreads if you want to follow me there.

Today's focus is level 10 life goals for Personal Development. To focus myself I spent some time deeply thinking about what personal development means to me.
You see before I read The Miracle Morning a book by Hal Elrod (back in October 2016) to me the phrase 'Personal Development' reminded me of some kind of corporate jargon or slogan that was banded around, used loosely with no depth or thought to how it might improve work or even for that matter us as individuals.
Quite how or where this mindset originated from I am still unsure, never the less this was my perception, all I know now is that this is not the case , that pattern of thought , that internal wall really has and needed to be torn down and a new understanding has come.
My thoughts now on what personal development means are:
• Actions that improve awareness
• A way to develop talents
• An opportunity to finds potential
• A way to enhance the quality of life
• Contribution to making dreams happen
• Building aspirations
• Improving Confidence
• Knowing ones self and establishing own identity
• Has infinite possibilities and no end
• Can cover a wide spectrum of areas such as self, environment, ability, emotions, physical and social to name just a few...
Take a moment to consider what personal development is for you? How does it feel? What does it mean? What importance does it have? How does it show up in your life?
I am sharing my Level 10 life Goals for this year with you all. This is a process to be reviewed constantly throught the year and actually this blog is a way of extending my own Personal Development. I hope in doing this, I can also inspire you to find your own options.
I choose 10 areas for me to focus on;
1. Keep up with Miracle Morning rotine for Daily Meditation
2. Keep up with Miracle Morning rotine for Daily Visualisation and Affirmations
3. Keep a curiosity list and get creative
4. Keep up with Miracle Morning rotine for daily journalling
5. Listen to Podcasts - (plan to multi task/listening whilst driving or doing house work)
6. Read 52 books in a year
7. Set regular personal goals and review actions taken to achieving them
8. Get a mentor for specific career goals
9. Learn a new skill by course or workshop
10. Improve time management and boundaries - say no when needed
