Day 14 I am still away the weekend and have to confess I set no alarm today with the confidence I was waking naturally early and it was the weekend and today I woke up at 7:30 am! Oops! Still I followed the SAVERS routine as before with just a few mins spent on each.
Then I went down stairs to start the day as planned with the others for the retreat I am on. This weekend I have been introduced to the concept of Sit Spot which I kind of do already as the 'S' silence or meditation. Of this routine. I plan however after this weekend to make my 'S' a silent sit spot as it makes sense to me to incorporate them.
So I hear you ask what is a Sit Spot? Or do you already know? and it's taken me a while to recognise the importance of this practice!
A Sit Spot is a place you can visit regularly in nature. No matter the weather. You sit in silence for an allocated amount of time and observe the climate around you. Taking into account what you see, feel, smell, hear even taste. Its a chance to use all of your senses to bring you closer to nature.
By sitting in the same place you are experiencing the changes in the environment around you, you can notice the weather, the plants , the trees, the animals, insects and the birds.
Creating an intimate connection with nature. Don't get distracted but writing or journalling, no talking, or sharing space with others or exploring just sitting in silence observing.
Yesterday I chose my spot here and sat for 20 minutes and today I am sitting for 30 minutes. At home my intention is to do it for 10 mins each day as part of my Miracle Morning routine that way I can ensure it's done!
So the benefits I have found if doing Sit Spot even for just a few days and why I will be continuing at home.
After you have done your Sit Spot you can record your experiences in your journal. What profound and deeper experiences you can gain in life by doing this!
