Day 12 - I'm up at 5:30am. I came across this quote a few days ago and decided to write about my feelings towards it in a journal post during my miracle morning time today. You may have noticed I like quotes (I share one or more daily) and often try to save them to reflect on at a later stage or look up the author or speaker so I can delve deeper into understanding and learning from them.
Doing my Miracle Morning routine has given me a good amount of time every day to reflect on things and I hope as the blog continues you will find them both interesting, inspiring and useful.
So escaping old ideas? The first thing that comes to mind is that to truly escape is not easy, quick or even comfortable experience. Just take the idea of getting up early!!
But once we acknowledge this we have the ability to start looking at our ideas in a different light, we have the ability to grow as a person.
Being creative and coming up with new ideas is not really the topic with this quote , for some people it can seem a simple task, where others find it a challenge. The lack of ideas is not what this is quote is referring to.
Have you ever had an idea and then yourself or if you have shared it with others then come to the conclusion that you won't change it as what you do already works? The idea of change often brings resistance, even if we have had ideas or inspiration that we could benefit us just by doing it in a different way! There is a phrase that came to mind that I have heard people say many times ''if it's not broken , don't fix it''. I bet you have heard this too!
The quote was written by John Maynard Keynes who was a British Economist and author of “The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money. (On my to read list)
If you really get to the heart of this quote I believe it's a way of expressing the fact that without new ideas that are implemented and actioned you cannot have progress in life. Imagine for a moment if every inventor and scientist didn't have ideas that they then tried. What if they stuck to their original practise and theory's, to afraid or resistant to leaving their previous ideas behind. We would probably still live in a world where we thought the earth was flat! Our technology would not have developed because what we had worked, so why make it better? Or we would avoid risk of trying anything new?
So I thought this was worth considering in my own life. If I don't challenge my ideas with new ideas if I stay stuck with the old where will I be? The answer is more than likely the same place. So next time I get an idea I'm going to break it down, consider it , even if at the beginning it seems crazy or a waste of time and let's just see where that takes me.
Let me know what you think ?Let your ideas and dreams run free, I bet they are amazing and who knows where your will take you!
